Manitoba A/H1N1 Influenza Update
Manitoba Health has developed a document that provides interim guidance for clinicians in ambulatory settings regarding laboratory testing for Novel A/H1N1 Influenza.
Manitoba Health has advised that the decision to test should be based on clinical judgment, taking into consideration infection severity and co-morbidity and the likelihood of exposure to A/H1N1. If testing is indicated, a nasopharyngeal aspirate or nasopharyngeal throat swab or bronchoalveolar wash specimen should be collected and sent to Cadham Provincial Laboratory.
